Texas 2017

Last month we took a trip to Texas to see friends...and even though we had just gotten home from our relaxing Mexico trip...I think this trip was even better for our souls! :) We had so much fun.

We flew out on Friday to DFW.

Once we picked up our rent car in Dallas, I had to make a pit stop to see a very special friend! My friend and mentor Stacy moved to the Dallas area a couple of years ago and I had not seen her since she moved.

So we stopped in Cedar Hill to see her...and my 5 minute stop was SO worth a hug from her. I just don't think anyone could fully understand what she means to me.

Side note: She showed me Jesus when I was in college and didn't know that I needed Him. And I haven't been the same since... ;)

After stopping at In-n-Out (a must for me when I'm out west), we were on the road to Tyler.
We stopped at Buc-ee's and listen...I was so overwhelmed! I had no idea what I wanted because this place had too many choices. It was an experience for sure.

We finally got to Tyler (I think we could have gotten there just as quickly if we had driven the entire way...but alas the journey was fun) to see our friends Justin and Laura...and we had the best little weekend with them and their kids, Sadie and Hayden.

Here's our weekend...

On Saturday morning Laura and I with Hayden went to the parade for the Rose Festival. We saw all kinds of floats and characters and marching bands.

That afternoon after Sadie's t-ball game we went to check out the Queen's Tea that was part of the Rose Festival. Here's me and Sadie hanging out at the queen's tent. :)

Hanging out until time to go to the neighbors' cook out. Sadie loved playing with filters!

On Sunday we went to church and then later on went fishing. We were celebrating Sadie's half birthday. ;)

We were so happy that Ms. Kathy came along fishing with us! We became friends with her and her sister on our trip to Europe in May of this year.

Gone fishin'!

Monday morning we drove back into Dallas and had a little bit of time before we had to be at DFW...so we stopped by Christ for the Nations for a quick little visit to their bookstore to buy us both a t-shirt and coffee mug. I am currently enrolled in their online Bible school program so this was exciting for me. :)

We stopped for lunch at a grilled cheese company and then it was time for our trip back home. I took this picture on our flight from ATL to BNA. It was an incredible sunset.

So we had the best little trip to Tyler and Dallas! We love the Velten's and are always thankful to get to spend time together when we live so far apart.

Cherish your people. And always travel when you can.

Next up is our trip to the mountains...always a good time and the best way to enjoy autumn!

:)
